Do Canadians Have More Tattoos Than Americans?

Canada & the United States share a strong tattoo culture.

In both countries, close to one in three adults has at least one tattoo. Women are more likely to be tattooed than men. Tattoos are also most common among adults under 50.

Canada appears to be slightly ahead. But the difference is very small.

A 2024 Canadian survey found that just over one-third of adults had tattoos. A 2023 U.S. survey placed the American figure at 32%.

That sounds like a win for Canada. In reality, the surveys used different samples, dates & methods. The safest conclusion is simpler:

Canadians & Americans are tattooed at very similar rates.
